Open Anti-Virus Test Has Unexpected Results

Untangle held what they called the "Anti-Virus Fight Club" at LinuxWorld in a self-proclaimed search for an anti-virus product to use in their open source gateway appliance. They asked an independent testing lab to certify their appliance, but the lab refused to test Untangle's anti-virus features because they were using an open source product.

In the testing the anti-virus solutions that came out ahead were Kapersky, Norton, and ClamAV. Both Kapersky and ClamAV are, of course, freely available. McAfee didn't fare so well, missing viruses that have been in the wild for some time. Read the results here:
